My art aims to revitalize cultural connections and foster a deeper understanding of shared human experiences.

Why did you name this exhibition “W’ard”?

That's an interesting question! For a long time, I focused on a specific type of subject matter in my art. After attending some monitoring sessions with artists like Muhannad Shonno and Saad Howade in mentorship programs through VAC & Riyadh Art, I began to see things from a broader perspective for some projects and a deeper one for others.

When I relocated to Melbourne to pursue a Master's in design earlier in 2024, I discovered that the real estate market there is quite tough, and finding a rental took quite a long time. It took me over two months to secure an apartment far to the north. My daily commute to university exceeded two and a half hours. On the bright side, there was a green space nearby called Bundoora Park. Occasionally, I took walks there to unwind while listening to music or podcasts. During one of these walks, I heard a podcast discussing Talal Madah and his song “وردك يا زارع الورد.” That idea stuck with me, and eventually inspired me to create this series of artworks.

What inspiration do you get from nature?

Nature has had a significant impact on me. In addition to the walks I took in the park, I grew up in Al Ahsa, which is famously known for its palm trees. The environment around us influences our perspective, and for me, spending time running and playing on my family farm as a child shaped me into the artist I am now.

What do you hope people see in your art?

In my previous shows, I centered around themes of social issues, but this time I'm looking to switch things up. I want to create bright, cheerful art pieces that emphasize color. I've discovered a lot of joy in floral designs, and I hope that anyone who comes to see my work in this exhibition will feel happy and leave with a positive impression.

Can we see it somewhere else?

I might revisit this later and work on it. For anyone interested in my art, including the W’ard collection and past projects, you can visit the Huna Space at Panorama Mall in Riyadh. I teamed up with them to display my artwork there.
